Parents work 2,000 hours a year; our students are in school for only 1,000 of those hours, leaving out-of-school time half of K-12 education! Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELO-P) is a historic, unprecedented opportunity to close the glaring opportunity gap, advance learning, and synergize communities in the out-of-school time.

It is an exciting time for districts to take risks to innovate, experiment, and re-imagine expanded learning. Nevertheless, supporting 9 hour days and 30 intersession days, as required by ELO-P, is a tremendous undertaking, almost like "building a school outside school".

In this session, leaders from several school districts, such as Mt. Diablo USD, Rowland USD, and Simi Valley USD, will join hands to showcase their success stories and innovation journey in how they revamped their expanded learning programs in the past three years. They will share the strategies and best practices for operating a successful ELO-P and maximizing student outcomes, in their respective scenarios.
