2024 ACSA Leadership Summit

What if your staff could joyfully engage in habits that energize them, connect them to their purpose, and strengthen their resilience while deepening their connections with one another? This is necessary both in times of crisis and in the continuously changing environment of education. In only 2 to 5 minutes per day, staff members can build their resilience and the resulting effect impacts students, parents, and the greater community. The Orcutt Union School District will share their journey toward creating a connected culture rooted in personal and organizational well being which included professional development, staff meeting activities, and even a gamified challenge between schools and departments. In our session you will learn about the science behind this approach and engage in some of the Positive Psychology skills and activities that lead to personal and organizational development. This workshop will be very interactive, so get ready to learn actively and have some fun!

Join us in a focused session on how to effectively promote literacy development in bilingual students. This session will provide practical strategies for supporting literacy in both English and the students' first language, ensuring that bilingual learners build strong reading skills in both languages. By nurturing literacy in multiple languages, we can support the academic growth and cultural identity of bilingual students, setting them up for success in all areas of their education.

As educational leaders who routinely navigate change, we do so within a landscape of emotions, stressors, and at times, conflict. This can result in our own trauma being triggered, and we have to simultaneously take care of our own "stuff" while we're managing the "stuff" of others. What we need is a healing-responsive approach that can help us in strengthening our understanding of both self and others, provide us with strategies and practices to effectively support those we lead, and create a healthy work environment where all can thrive.
